Our Cricket Bat Guarantee

We at MRB Cricket Ltd are proud of the quality of all our bats and will always replace or repair bats (within the warranty period – First Season of use) that have genuine faults in materials or workmanship. It is important to note that during the course of a bat’s life, most damage is not due to a faulty bat but due to the nature of the impacts and forces involved in the game, especially during a miss-hit and mistimed shots which are the fault of the batsman and NOT the bat. NO manufacturer will give a guarantee against damage or breakage of a cricket bat. Bats break in different ways and for a whole range of reasons and if in our view the bat has broken due to manufacturing fault (and NOT by misuse or neglect) and is irreparable, we will endeavour to replace from stock. We are not responsible for damage if our preparation instructions are not followed or the damage is a result of a miss hit shot (an edge or blow on the toe), this is the fault of the batsman and NOT the bat. In these cases we may be able to help repair the bat but this may be chargeable, please discuss any problems with us first. Genuine faults; we’ll always repair, where possible, or replace, where necessary and as quickly as possible. The price of the bat has no reflection of whether a bat cracks or not, they all crack! It is true that the most expensive bats hit the ball better because they are usually softer. Generally expensive bats are more likely to crack, dent or break than cheaper bats. It has been seen that too many people are far too quick to blame the bat when the fault really lies with the batsman. Bats are designed to hit the ball 12-20cm (5 to 8 inches) up from the bottom (toe) and in the middle of the blade. Failure to do this may result in damage that is not covered by any guarantee or warranty. The edges, toe and shoulders of the bat are necessarily not as thick as the sweet spot and are consequently more prone to damage. Damage caused to these areas (edges, toe and shoulders), whilst obviously not intentional is the responsibility of the customer. A very small percentage of bats sold are liable to crack under the massive stresses which take place when the ball hits the willow. This is why it is very important that your should take care when playing with your bat for the first time, you MUST ensure you have knocked in your bat, especially on the sides and on the bottom. Even if a bat is described as ready-to-play you should take care when using it in its infancy....(It is usual for a cricket bat to have many minor cracks in the face.)
